Model History
First, it must be said that Pursuit is considered by most to be one of the very finest producers of outboard fishing boat in the country. The quality and attention to detail are second to none. Pursuit is part of S-2 Yachts which also produces Tiara Yachts. Since 1983, all outboard Pursuits have been produced in Ft. Pierce, FL. The 2870 Offshore Center Console was introduced in 1996. While built on the same hull as the 2870 Walk Around, the deck arrangement was all new and, at the time, was quite revolutionary. Pursuit had combined the bow layout of a walk-around with helm layout of a center-console, making for a great crossover fishing platform. This combination turned out to be a huge success. Pursuit uses premium polyester and vinylester resins along with the finest in E-glass knitted fiberglass cloth in the layup of their products. The 2870's hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline and is cored with Baltek balsa core in the hull sides above the waterline. The hull has 22 degrees of deadrise at the transom and features two running strakes and reversed chines. The stringers are a box style construction made of marine grade plywood completely encapsulated, inside and out, with hand-laid fiberglass and are foam filled. The deck layup is similar to the hull's but with the balsa coring used to stiffen the walking areas of the deck. Also note that the deck is constructed as one major component with the cockpit, helm deck and truck cabin all in one piece. The entire boat is hand-laid to the highest standards.Vessel Walk Thru

The boat originally had bottom paint, but the paint was removed and the bottom gel-coated dark green when the current owner purchased the vessel.
