Hull Design
The Mainship 40 DC runs on a semi-displacement hull. The bottom features a deep fore foot, transitioning quickly to moderately flat bilges aft which round quickly to a pronounced chine, giving the boat a good turn of speed for her size and power. There is a modest keel, but not full protection for the running gear. Overall a very efficient running surface that should provide a comfortable and stable ride.
Construction Details
Mainship uses tried and true construction techniques. The boats are made with E-glass fiberglass woven roving and polyester resin. The 40 DC hull is laid up with a solid fiberglass bottom and hull sides. The superstructure is solid glass with cored decks. The stringer system is made of marine grade plywood which is completely encapsulated in fiberglass. The bulkheads are marine plywood tabbed into place fiberglass cloth & resin. The hull to deck joint is a "shoe box" style which is chemically and mechanically fastened.
Vessel Walk-Thru
The salon can be entered via sliding doors on the port and starboard sides of the deck house. The main seating area is aft and features a convertable sofa and two barrel chairs. Forward on port, there is a U-shaped galley area with a large breakfast bar. Across on stbd is the lower helm and sliding door onto deck. The port sliding door is located at the aft end of the salon, between the breakfast bar and the entrance into the aft stateroom.The master stateroom is aft via stairs located slighty offset to port. The master berth is a centerline double with Comfort Select air matress. There are numerous drawers and lockers that surround the area. A small built-in vanity/desk area is aft on stbd. The master head is at the fwd end of the stateroom, also on stbd. The head does feature and tub/shower area.The guest quarters are in the bow and are accessed via stairs between the galley and lower helm. The guest berth is a large V-berth with filler cushions. Aft to port are a number of drawers and hanging locker. Opposite on stbd is the head with shower.

I have been very impressed with the condition of this ORIGINAL OWNER vessel. She is clean and very well kept by a knowledgeable boater. The boat was purchased new in Deltaville, VA in 1987. The Owners have cruised the boat as far north as Baltimore to as far south as the Florida Keys and Bahamas. The owner installed a fuel flow meter and reports respectable economy and performance. Mechanically the boat looks to be in good shape and it should be noted that synthetic oil has been used in the motors since new. If in the market for a 40 DC, this is a must see.Please not that the owners are reserving the name of the vessel; the new owner will be required to change the name.
